Before Christmas ends......

Before Christmas ends...I would like to share my thoughts on the year 2012 and thank the loved ones in my life.

I founded a CCA in ITE College West. It sounds funny when I write this but I can't find another phrase to replace it.

As an ordinary student studying here in College West, I am passion-driven, the me who likes to talk alot asked my homeroom teacher, Mr Andrew Cheong, if I can submit a proposal for this new club which is the K-Pop Dance Club. The vision came when I just entered College West in 2011, I saw the events piazza and dreamed to perform there with a group of dancers who share the same passion.
After submitting the proposal, he gave me tips and advises on how to continue the unofficial club.

First of all I needed people to join my club, at least 10.
I designed a board, a very funny one. (I lost the photo, it's in my desktop and I am using my laptop now!)
My bestie, Liyi, worked together with me to gather the interested sign ups!
Just who is Liyi? The girl beside me here! Without her, I am not able to gather all the contacts. She went to buy lunch for me.
We were unlicensed as you know I designed the banners and we tried our luck by going to the Sports Hall, thank God we found an empty booth and we settled down there.

We went there at 9am until 3pm and got 70 sign-ups.
Then we ran back happily, still holding on the banner "KPOP DANCE CLUB" while on our way back to class, we got a few sign ups on our way back to classroom. I really want to thank Liyi for helping so much, I have an amazing friend :')

Since we have 70 sign-ups, the purpose of having this cca is to share the same interest among the ones who like to dance but have not enough money to learn outside - I am not a certified instructor but I just like to teach. So Mr Cheong booked dance studio on a weekly basis and our first unofficial CCA held on every Friday.

We had audition for the better ones to be part of this group called "Project Group" to perform at the Piazza also to use this chance to impress the Manager so we can get our CCA official.

Through this while, Liyi woke up as early as 6am to clean the studio and swept the studio, of course I was there but with her presence, we had alot of fun through the process, she never made me lonely. I really want to thank her, while typing this, I am so heartfelt, really really heartfelt.

This is Liyi again!

12 out of the ones who attended the audition were chosen to perform for the first Kpop performance at the events piazza. Of course the audition is student led so one of the judge is me..haha..then along with Qai (my classmate who's also a b-boy), Liyi, Ernie (a supportive friend and classmate of mine).

This was taken during one of the unofficial CCA on Fridays. Look at how happy they were. As a president, I was being looked up to, I felt happy just because I feel a great sense of achievement in terms of being the "matchmaker" in their friendships and relation..ahem, of course fate brought them together =)

This was taken during our practice and it's a must to learn scorpion dance for the boys' item.

This was taken when the girls gave their best for their item!

This was taken during one of our bonding and free time during training.

We had so much time together for 4 months, after getting our items ready, Mr Cheong looked for the Manager and that's how I met our former CA, Mr Wann :)

Unofficial to Official = 4 months

We met at block 3 level 4 while the project group was practicing  that's how we first met.

Mr Wann gave me a feeling like "This is your company, you own it, you're the boss but I'm here to guide you and I am the ladder to your success."

Every now and then when the cca was going to turn official, he asked me to go to his office for meeting - from simple things to hard things. Simple things like setting out a plan for the cca...camps at the end of the year..CCA structure, designing of the notice board. Hard things like political stuffs do happen..I will remember how the existing unofficial cca members will turn up at his office to cut the cca flyers for the cca fairs, through all these times we bonded alot. I remember Siqi, Tingyun, Boonhong, Arrifah, Edmund and more were there to cut, sorry if I forgot to mention your name, too many names to mention.

At Mr Wann's office, just got to see our logo :)

Also, we change the cca name to be called the "Korean Dance Wave." I was so overjoyed to have our own notice board.

We had to do a preview for Mr Wann before we pass.... :)

Finally, the long awaited day has come. Kpop Dance Club debut, the first time when our cca went official, the hardwork paid off. This was our booth..we all woke up early to design the booth and make up for the performances.

This is the first time for them to perform for the cca :)

Simple photos yet flashback alot of memories and hardwork we had been through.

I am smiling like this because I am just happy. I lived a happy life - happiness because my wish has come true.

Classmates who stood by my side, therefore I am stronger day by day in this 2012, they are the ones who faced my shits when I'm upset with the cca happenings. Some of them aren't in the photo, but come on you know who you are :)

Mr Wann always tell me that we are still new, we have alot to improve and we are doing good. We are also engaged by alot of events. Project group is the first group to perform so one of the memorable event is the Graduation Ceremony. Well as you know it's K-pop, jeers and mockers were around. One of the challenge we gotta face.

The girls couldn't perform for the graduation ceremony because we are "over-exposed". I fought and I still lost. I hate to see them tearing, at that point of time I told the organizer "One for all, all for one". We all were about to back out from the performances. Mr Wann was in troubled too because he understands us but he gotta explain to the upper level. The manager and the head of CCA came down to see what happened and talked to us. No matter how because we promised to perform, we have to perform.

But the boys were able to perform. We had performed ongoing for 3 days.

At the backstage

The D-day. They were proud of themselves to perform, I can really feel it, who wouldn't be proud of their own hardwork?

I remember we had our second audition when the April intakes came in. We need to categorize them in "Experience/No Experience" category.

The CCA leaders aka the existing Project Group dancers lead them in learning new dance choreography.

It wasn't manageable for the two big groups so me and Mr Wann have to put them to be in 5 different groups to practice for their performance item individually.

There was another competition called the Super 24! It was the best moments for the Korean Dance Wave because they met up to practice for the competition. We had group 1 and group 2, each group consisted of 24 members. This was the time Mr Wann went strict on us, practiced until late night, rehearsed again and again, we didn't have instructor yet though. Gangyi was the leader, great job Gangyi. Farah was the leader too, great job Farah!

A sneak preview of what happened in Super 24!

Another time when Project Group was engaged for Youthphoria event at Singapore Discovery Centre.

The rehearsal:

This was the time when I sprained my neck and got a bad immune system, was about to faint and stuffs. I remember they took care of me by buying me water and I even got to sit in Mr Wann's car back to school for CCA with some of the girls. I sat in the front sit, I love those moments in the car although my neck was in an awkward position.
Got back to school and started our CCA, we had to do another preview for the upper head at Kaizen hall after the CCA, tiring or not? Nope but it was killing me cos' my neck is sprained.

I remember this sweet girl, Rachel, passed me a Japanese ointment for muscle strains, it works like Salon pas. So I decided to put it on my neck, at the first time I could not feel the oil on my skin so I applied ALOT! I ended up feeling so HOT and SPICY! Mr Wann asked if I needed ice, I ran to 7 eleven for ice. The spiciness lasted for 2 hours ohmy.

This was the actual event:

This was our cheer before the performance, Korean Dance Wave family never dies, don't ever forget :)

Mr Wann had to leave our CCA and not take any CCAs anymore. It was the saddest part of life I guess? Yes he's still in school...but like I mentioned...he gave me a feeling of "This is your company, you own it, you're the boss but I'm here to guide you and I am the ladder to your success." He's like a brother to me, a good mentor and a very great friend.

We held farewell party for him, did a farewell video for him and booked a room for the party, Venus helped to buy snacks and Ivan bought cake, Farah edited the video :) We surprised him with a farewell party..the last minute. Haha.

This is a sneak preview of the farewell video. One of the takes!

The current 5 groups in Korean Dance Wave.
1) Project Group (The first who started Kpop unofficially)
2) Phoenix
3) Nu'era
4) Dream Catcher
5) Venus

With some of the Venus girls and Nu'era boys at the Mooncake Festival event!

With Phoenix members during our practice

The story goes on for Phoenix, Nu'era, Venus and Dream Catcher.
They train REALLY hard to perform, having the thought that some of them have no dance background but they learned some techniques from their fellow friends in the cca, we have no instructor yet.

Here's the Phoenix debut performance at Piazza.

Their other performances:

We all have witnessed their debut performances from each group who work hard for the CCA. Even though I may not have the photos for the performances but we clearly know how hard they worked so a round of applause to them :)

I have not just experienced life but I have lived my life..as much as I can do..I strive to do it..although I wasn't brought up in a wealthy complete family, I am taught to clear the utensils after eating, I am taught to give up seats to the needy, I am taught to express myself in a friendly manner although in this country, alot of people are shy to say a "Thank you", "sorry" and "I Love You".

Although it's been really hard to see my loved one getting drunk every night, although it's been awful to been through a home without electricity for over 10 times, although it's never easy to be looked down on since I was in my kindergarten because of my height until primary school I was being bullied and pushed down, even the principal was about to cane the ones who bullied me at the office but I stopped her, I have met the ones who truly care and love me for who I am. God gave me not only friends but down-to-earth, caring and sincere friends.

My classmates in ITE.
My friends outside.
My friends in CCA.

I will write about them in the next post.

I will expect more in 2013.
I hope my post encourages you, I am 20 years old this year, young or old to you but definitely I'm a normal human on this earth who has a brain and a pair of legs and hands.

Take care :)

LONG DAY

I seldom blog about my day, I usually write about my week.
But I'm gonna share about what happened today!

Morning...
Spotted a good Samaritan helping an old man who is struggling alot to walk across the road. Just as I saw this sight, fireworks exploded in my heart. Good people are all around!

Afternoon...
Supposedly going down to TSC studio to work but couldn't make it due to the hectic happenings.
Jabez/s cat fell sick so we rushed down to the vet...

Reached the animal clinic and received this message, totally made my day.

Waited a few moments before Momo's turn, momo took her weight and the machine.
Finally it's her turn to consult the vet.

Animals have obesity problems too...but the description is too humorous.

A picture speaks a thousand words...

Momo had her blood test, temperature test and injection..hmm, time to take medicine.

Jabez went missing in between as she went to buy waffles at 7-eleven, for herself and for me. Hehe, I was so hungry then - so touched! Thank God!
It was raining cats and dogs after that, we settled down to have our dinner with Momo!

Went back to Jabez's house after the consultation and 'dinner'.
Bathed Momo and Eunjae immediately! It was the pre-stage of chaos, meaning? It's not easy to bath a cat.

I thought I have more to share but I guess I'm ending here!
2012 is coming to an end!

Things to accomplish!

1) Write Christmas cards
2) 2012 reflection and thanksgiving
3) Plan 2013 resolution
4) Countdown!

I'm so looking forward to what God will lead US in 2013!
Us - everyone.

God is awesome.
I may not be a church goer, but don't judge me by my physical commitment.

Not going to write more!

Cheers.

DRAINED

Oh well always blog when I'm drained.

So ya, this week is so packed.
Finally reached home after a long day..
What I can do is to rest and rest.

Have been down with never-ending migraine these days.
What to do, hope for the best.

Got too much things to say but shall just summarize all.

7 dec, probably one of the best day ever.

As usual, dance practice.
A few MOE representatives and Caucasian came to watch our practice, they have been looking at us since our practice on Monday - also taking videos of our practice. They are such a big encouragement to us especially today, one of the sir went infront of us and took our dance video, then he added on he will contact his company and took a photo with us. Of course, nevertheless, I always think we need alot of improvement but with his positive remarks, spurred us on and encouraged us to do even better.

After that, we were told to eat the buffet there too.
So we took as much as we can in the midst of practice, I remember stacking up pandan cakes in a single plate and making the people laugh.

Syak came over and gave me a pandan cake mash, well thanks ah Syak!

Seriously, but that's what made my day.

Haha, left dance earlier to have a family dinner at Fish & Co, alot of funny and happy things happened.

Simple things that made my day.

Thank God, let's have faith.

Goodnight.
